| An Update that is way over due. This saying I have at the top of my xanga page is from a calendar page I read at my moms. It means so much to me in all that has happened to us in the last few days. It started a regular Sunday morning...we go to church on Saturday, so we do our weekend stuff on Sunday. Steve was home and was doing the yard , I was rushing around getting everyone ready to go to SAMS ClUB. A little before two we headed to my moms to drop Cole off and get her vehicle. For several circumstances we all agreed it would be best to take my parents suv. We transfered all 3 car seats and off we went. Within 10 minutes all 3 were sound to sleep and Steve and I were enjoying a wonderful conversation in the "Quiet" . All you mothers know what I mean. We were headed down a highway with the cruise set on 61....when all of sudden a tan colored jimmy pulls right out in front of us. I was looking down at the time and didn't see what we were in for, but Steve said ," NO WAY" ! I looked up just in time to see the jimmy and BAM we hit at about 50 miles an hour. It was like hitting a brick wall!!! Steve and I were hit with airbags...not exactly comfortable, but we are so grateful for them. Do not want to think of the damage without them. As soon as we hit all 3 children started screaming, Steve was asking if I was alright (not sure if I answered, my concern was my children). I immediately unlocked the doors and started to check and unload our children... hardly realizing that I wasn' t hearing so well, and I was really in pain. Someone behind us called 911. As soon as we realized we were all alive and out of the vehicle, we looked at the other driver...who was picking herself off the ground. Her door had opened and she rolled out. She had the biggest eyes looking at us...so scared and saying over and over "I'm so sorry". Steve assured her it was going to be ok. She called her mom and her mom arrived hysterical. Right after she started have convulsions. We learned that she was only THIRTEEN! She had disobeyed and went on the highway...instead of staying on the back roads to "practice" her driving. She was taken by ambulance to the hospital and discharged the next day. We are so grateful! My mom and Aunt came and picked us up and took us to the hospital. Jackson and Levi have fractured collar bones from their carseat straps. So glad they worked as well as they did. Did you know that when a carseat has been in a wreck you have to trash them and get new ones? I didn't, but we sure did follow the rules in the circumstance. Amberly checked out fine, not even a scratch....just frustrated to stay in the ER for 4 hours. Steve has a bad knee..they did x-rays and there seem to be no broken bones, but there is so much swelling. If it still hurts in 6 weeks, he will have an MRI. They think he might have pulled a muscle. As for my I have major bruising from the seatbelt, and I'm pretty sure a fractured tail bone. The doctor was going to x-ray my pelvic area and tail bone....when he came in a told Steve and me, "CONGRATULATIONS! You are expecting!" So we cannot do x-rays! We were very shocked to hear that out of his mouth, but very excited! It made our long wait seem worth it. Don't we serve an amazing GOD? Something that started out not so good...turned out to be a little miracle. Baby Hostetler is due May 30th 2010. Steve and I are rejoicing in God's miracles and loving our children all the more. | | |
| Even Though It was Memorial Day yesterday, Steve was supposed to work....but The rain came down! It has been coming down for days now. We are very soggy around here. So, today we were grateful that he had work, but around 11:00 he got sent home...because it was to wet. When it rains...it pours it seems like. So, looking on the bright side of things, we get to trust in the Lord for His provision, and get to enjoy my hunny. He is out running errands with Jackson. Jackson is Daddy's shadow when he is home. Little Girly is sleeping right now. She turned 6 months on Sunday. Just hard to believe for Steve and Myself. Her life seems to be flying by. With your first you just can't wait to see them grow and what they are going to do next...but when you have more than one...every thing seems to go way to fast! We've been working with attitude problems lately with our eldest, anybody have any ideas on what to do for a child that talks to his mom like he was the adult? It is one of those things that drive me nuts. I know it is a phase, I just hope it ends soon. I just looked out the window and there is a beautiful Cardinal sitting in my moms crepe myrtle tree. The intricate details are so pretty. What a marvelous God we serve. Well, I don't have much to say...other than I'm so grateful for the life that God gave me. | | |
| I Can't believe it has been over a year since I've last updated. That truly is a shame! So much has happened since then....one of the most exciting things for our little family was, Amberly Johannah Hostetler was born on November 24, 2008. Weighing in at 8lbs. even. The boys have grown so much, Cole is 5 1/2, Jack is almost 3, and Levi is 19 months. Cole started school last fall, we are homeschooling and he is doing great! God is definately stretching me as a mother, but we are loving this new stage in life. Jack is talking up a storm now, which is an answer to prayer...he is also potty trained! Now that is something to be thankful for...we had 3 in diapers for a few months. Levi is walking and talking now, and absolutely loves his little sister. He is always kissing on her. Steve is still working for the same excavation company...and just loving it! He told me, work for him is like a little boy playing in the sand box with his tonka toys. Now what man/boy would not like to do that for 10 hours a day. Another exciting thing for us this year was Steve's sister gor married. We are so excited for Cindi and Dennis! We just love our new brother in law...Steve couldn't have picked someone better to protect his sister for the rest of her days. We love you guys! Well, I do have pics to post...some for my in- laws from Mothers day, but they are on the other computer. So they will be coming soon. Hope you all have a blessed week! | | |
| It has been a fast and very busy month, but also very different from recent February's. We don't usually have such tornadic activity during the winter....I'm so grateful for the Lord's protection! I planned a shower for my sister in law, Stephanie. That went very well and now we are waiting for my little nephew. I'm so excited to be an aunt for the first time. All three boys are sick....puh! If one gets it, they all get it. Monday, I took them all to a tax appointment, they did suprisingly well. The secretary said, " they were quiet as little mouse". I was so grateful! That same day I tried to get them into the Dr., but everybody decided to be sick on Monday. I had to take them to urgent care at 4:00 p.m., I waited 2 and a half hours in there. I was ragged out by the time I got out of there. Trying to keep all three in tow, plus they weren't feeling great. I was about in tears by the time I got out. My 82 year old Grandmother asked if she could go and help me out, so I told her that it would be a help. Thank you Grandma Brooksie! I felt so bad for her...I know she had to have been as tired as I was. Coleman and Jackson both had ear infections, hopefully soon they will be better. Well, Levi has started to cry and Jack is pulling on me..so I should go. | | |
| It all started Thursday afternoon....weather man reports 80% chance of rain and severe weather. My Mom calls and says," I'm listening out for the weather, so I can come and get you if it gets bad." That is not unusaul ...being that we live in a mobile home . I get us ready in case we have to leave quickly. The sky turns gray, the wind picks up some and it begins to rain lightly. My mom comes and we quickly load everyone up. That afternoon it rains some, but nothing major...the baby and Jackson take naps, I get to rest some and read. A very relaxing afternoon....until the storm decides to come. My Dad comes and is visiting with me in the living room, Coleman is playing , Jack is still sleeping, and I'm holding baby Levi. All of Sudden the gray sky turns completely black, the trees are violently blowing and the rain is coming down in sheets. Then there is the ROAR of a tornado. My dad sees a tree top snap off and he says "GET IN THE HALL!" I run with the baby to tell my mom to get in the hall....while directing Coleman and grabbing pillows off of the bed . My dad grabs Jack out of the crib and I'm praying that Steve won't be on the road in all of this, being that he would normally be getting off at this time and driving an hour. A tree falls over in the front yard and the power goes out.....and as quickly as it comes... it dissappeares. The rain is still coming down hard with thunder and lightning everywhere.
We get out the hall area and it is DARK...because the sky is still dark and we have no electricity. Coleman is asking a thousand questions and Jack is thrilled by the newness of it all. Then we see Steve coming down the hill in the van. I'm just so grateful he is alright! He was traveling on the road we live on, when he topped the hill and saw the big black cloud ahead and the wind whipping like crazy . It was like a wall in front of him, raining and all, and not where he was waiting on the hill . He thought, "I better not drive in there...that is probably the tornado the weather man said was 7 miles from Lucedale." He waited till it passed and made it home. I'm so thankful the Lord gave him the wisdom to wait it out where he was. Isn't the Lord so faithful to us during the STORM? Whether it is spiritually, emotionally, or like us yesterday....physically in a storm....God is forever leading and directing when and where the storm hits. We sat in the dark for hours...of course we had flashlights and oil candles and lamp. You still couldn't see well. Jack got his first black eye from tripping over a pillow and hitting the coffee table. Dad and I played chess while Steve slept and mom rocked Levi. We had no water, so we couldn't very well cook, so we made sandwiches by candle light. Coleman said, " he could tell us ghost stories " We were curious if he even new what a ghost was or where he would have learned about one from. So Steve asked him what a ghost was and he said ," it was a scary monster with BIG tennis shoes !" Never heard of that rendention of a ghost before, but it sure cracked me up . We still didn't have power by 10:00, so we camped out at my parents. I made pallets for the boys and Levi slept in the crib. I'm so grateful my old room is available whenever we need it. We finally got power at about 12:45 a.m.. There were 3,500 homes without power last night because of the storm....I hope no one was hurt during the storm. We haven't found our garbage can yet and there was a trampoline in the road when Steve went to work early this morning. Well, my little guys are needing me now...so I'll go. HH | | |
